Apologies and confirmations

Well it would appear that my discrediting of the Wayne Palmer as President rumour, was possibly a little hasty as new information has come to to light about this. As it now looks like it might well be true.

The intial speculation now looks to be that Regina King will also be joining the cast as Wayne's sister. Anyway for more information take a look at these links. This has been reported on various different sites, so looks to be true.

Disproving rumours

Normally the purpose of this blog is keeping people informed of all the known information about Season 6. A slight change with this update then, as this is about disproving some information which has been circulating.

Back when I first started this blog my source sent me various bits of information. Not all of this made it to the blog, as not all of it could be proven. This information which could not be proven regarded alleged new characters for Season 6. Most signifcantly that there would be a new JFK type President. The person allegedly cast in this role was Jon Tenney.

Recently rumours have been circulating that DB Woodside would be returning in Season 6 as President Wayne Palmer. In fact Harry Barnes http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/ posted a link from an internet gossip site claiming this.

However I have recently got confirmation from the 24Insider Administrator confirming neither DB Woodside or Jon Tenney will be the President in Season 6. Of course I'm guessing you're wondering why is this person reliable. On the 24Insider forum, there is a poster Czar who works for 24. For obvious reasons he isn't going to use his real name, however a lot of the information on here has been confirmed as true by Czar.

Of course this does not mean DB Woodside will not be back in Season 6, as he may well be.

Peter MacNicol to join 24?

Former Ally McBeal star Peter MacNicol looks set to join the cast of 24 in Season 6. So far it seems that MacNicol will play a high ranking goverment officer. So could he be the new Ryan Chapelle? Thanks to HHH43809 & Therealsilenttimmy for this information.

Also thanks go out to DarkUFO who kindly linked my blog on his Lost blogs.

Filming in NYC?

Joel Surnow recently talked with Ausiello again, this time among other things saying that some of Season 6 will be shot on location in New York, as well as LA.

Jack in Season 6

A recent interview with Kiefer Sutherland in The Guardian gave brief hints at what may be going on with Jack in Season 6. Thanks to nweldon from IMDB for the information.

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/screen/story/0,,1810544,00.html

Kiefer Sutherland - "So Bauer will be around for a little while longer. The projected movie version of 24, if it happens, will be filmed after the sixth series, 'but that won't be in real time,' he adds reassuringly, and explains that season six will take a slightly different turn. 'We've had five years of him saving a large thing; this one's much more about him saving his own ass. He'll go from being the one who hunts people down to the one who's being hunted, so that in itself turns the show around.'

Casting rumours

Rusty_nail9999 from IMDB sent me this. SecretAgentman at the Television without pity forums has mentioned this possible cast information for Season 6. I've been told from other sources that SecretAgentman is reliable, so far now I trust this until it gets disproved. He mentions who some of the villians in Season 6 might be.

http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=655371&st=2955

Looks like some of our sixth season villians will be ' middle eastern'. So far they are looking for ASSAD ,a Middle Eastern (or should pass for Middle Eastern)in his mid 30’s to mid 40’s, and the mastermind of a terrorist plan. Assad is smart and ruthless and will recur. FAYED, he is Assad’s disciple, and is also Middle Eastern (or should pass for it). Fayed is just a little younger than Assad – that is early 30’s to early 40’s and will also recur and will go head to head with Jack. And AHMET , a neighborhood kid in Simi Valley – Middle Eastern (or should pass for it) 20-21 years old that blends in as part of the American landscape but in fact is a real terrorist. Will recur. That's all I have for now.

This has nothing to do with 24 whatsoever. But this week I've been listening to Don Caballero's new album World Class Listening Problem out on Relapse Records.

And more important than Season 6 of 24, Jucifer's third album is getting released after spending about three years in limbo.

More Heritage

The Heritage information comes from Carlos Bernard, Gregory Itzin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Joel Surnow & Howard Gordon when they attended a discussion at the Heritage Institute about 24 and America's imagine fighting terrorism, exciting stuff. This time the information comes from my source.

1). The first 26 pages of the first episode are written

2). LA will have a bad day... again

3). Some scenes in DC will happen for the first time.

4). People often come up to Gregory Itzin (Logan) and they say "Don't let them kill you." Robert Cochran, the executive producer, creator and writer, said "Good luck". Later on Itzin said that Logan is likely to be coming back and "wasn't dead yet." Gordon remarked slyly, "not yet, at least." Gordon also agreed that Logan was needed for season 6.

5). Aaron is back with the new president, but is not living with Martha. Originally he was dead on the page in Episode 23, but Glenn Morshower (the actor who played Aaron) argued (late at night) mentioned that "it was a mistake" and "to many people had died" already. That and "his pool was getting cold.".

6). One of the questions was "Are you (Chloe) carrying Jack or Edgar's love child". The answer: "I think whoever wrote that question needs to think about something else for 24 hours."

24 Event

It has been a little while between updates but I've got a fair amount of new information for the blog. Kicking it off is this information from C-SPan from K27926 about 24. It answers various questions about new locations, Logan, Aaron Pierce and why the show will still be set in the LA. Also some information about the upcoming 24 movie. Unfortunatly the link K gave me to the Heritage site seems to have gone down, however I trust the information and hopefully I'll have a link for it soon.

SEASON 6 Joel Surnow, in response to a question about Aaron Pierce possibly returning:

"We, uh, will actually have a President in Washington, DC. We're gonna do some stuff based in DC next year for the first time. And we do intend to bring Aaron back. He's a beloved character and he won't be in his love nest with Martha Logan, but he'll be back and working for a President."

Joel Surnow, in response to Rush mentioning that the writers need Logan for the next season: "

Absolutely.... Greg Itzin heard in the background saying, 'You heard it here!' .... you've not seen the last of President Logan."

Joel Surnow, in response to Rush asking if they'll leave LA:

"No. We have to shoot in LA, the show takes place in LA, and that probably won't change unless..... and the reason you can't move it and pick up and go to another city is 'cause we've had 350 people work for us for 6 years and they would suddenly all be out of a job. So, there's other considerations that you don't think about that have to do with the fact that yes, LA will have another bad day."

MOVIE:

Joel Surnow

"We're in the process of writing a movie for 24. It's not going to be in real-time, and it's probably not going to be CTU Los Angeles. It's going to be, it's going to take place in 24 hours, it will be more international, we'll go to locations that we've never been to, and actually shoot on location. And it will be more, as conceived right now, as sort of Jack Bauer is the new James Bond. I mean, like the Bourne Identity movies where you know, what Jack does is in the way we depict him fighting terrorism I think actually against a bigger canvas like putting him internationally... in the Middle East or in Europe. It could be very exciting for us to really not be constrained by the fact that we have to get from one place to another in 10 minutes, and that's 10 minutes of real time. Uh, so right now, the plan is to make this a big epic action with Jack Bauer front and center in this thing."

The Cast part 2 - James Morrison

It would appear that my speculation that James Morrison may return in Season 6 might be right. This link seems to confirm that he will be returning. Thanks to K27926 & Rusty Nail9999 for the information.

Poetry Corner

As many of people may know Gregory Itzin wrote a poem about Season 5 of 24. Also it has been recently mentioned that he reads the forums on IMDB. A joke between several of us on this forum lead to one of the IMDB users Sedo451 writing his own ode about Charles Logan. Warning this contains major spoilers for all of season 5. Although why you would be reading a blog about Season 6 without watching the previous Season I don't know.

Whether you like it or not, I'm Commander-in-Chief
Palmer didn't agree with my desicions and he tried to beef,

I gave Henderson a call to handle the situation,
not suspecting he'd send David on a permanant Vacation,

The jig was almost up when Palmer contacted My wife,
She had a nervous breakdown when the sniper took his life,

Through the rest of the day, my time I was biding..
Knowing all along that Jack Bauer would come out of hiding,

Jack Bauer, you see, is the man we would frame,
for killing David Palmer, we would give the authorities Jack's name!

That little bitch O'Brien had contacted Jack
She told him too soon that his friends I did whack.

The thought of his friends death had raised Bauer's ire
and when our merc's tracked Jack down it was Jack who opened fire

When he showed up at my retreat I knew things had gone awry,
right around the time Jack threatened to remove Walter's eye,

Walter, a partiot, was necessary loss,
but the truth couldn't be revealed about who was the real boss

Hang him did we in the conference room,
With time ticking away the days plans did loom,

I singed a peace treaty just only hours ago,
with the Russian President who I'll soon send to Vladimir Bierko

She knew what would happen to the Russians, yet she tried and she tried,
Aaron Pierce made sure she she was safe.. Oh how I wish he had died!

He delivered her back to me all safe and sound,
only later to find out they'd be sneaking around!

CTU had to be dealt with they were getting too close,
Bierko gassed their HQ and with a scene so morose..

Their capabilities were cut by 70%
And after killing Almedia, off Christopher went,

Christopher, while caputred, surrendered no information
But Bauer, now more furious, hungered for vindication

David Palmer's brother Wayne then entered the fold,
Aaron Pierce had to be dealt with once he was told...

Of a certain recording, which Martha's assistant did hold,
And then swooped in Bauer so brave and so bold

Somehow I knew Bauer would spoil our plan,
But how much can he withstand, he's only a man!

Henderson's men fumbled about
trying and failing to take Wayne and Aaron out

Secretary Heller's visit to my compound had caused quite a fuss
His mention of the recording had me convinced he'd ruin us

I thought a may have to resign when Hal entered the room
but then Henderson called, and I lowered the boom!

Heller was accusing me with no reason or proof!
So when he left, our mercs followed him, with a crosshairs on his roof

Jack called Bill Buchanon to keep Wayne safe and sound,
I should have called Bill to hide things too.. since Wayne's STILL NOT AROUND!

Jack stowed away on an international flight,
to recovering the recording for which the secretary of defence had given his life

Audrey held a gun to Henderson's head,
tempted to kill him, fearing her father was dead!

Curtis showed us and saved the day as well,
telling Audrey her father is ALIVE, ending her personal hell

With whiskey in my left hand, and a gun in the right
I contemplated ending my life in the middle of the night

Things weren't going well, Omicron suggested things end
Then I recieved a phone call from a New Friend!

Miles volunteered to handle CTU
for a promotion, or a pay hike, or a combination of the two..

Well Miles succeeded and the recording was erased,
The proof was all gone, and all the people who died to secure it were a waste.

I lifted the arrest warrant from Bauer, I no longer needed him siezed!
Considering my phone call I just made to the Chinese!

They'd handle Jack on a draconian scale,
Perhaps Kim will recieve pieces of him in the mail..

was happy, delighted, I was dancing in my head!
My wife came back asking for forgiveness, and I took her to bed!

4 minutes later it was the turn of the hour!
The last thing I suspected when I got in Marine 1..was to be face to face with BAUER!

Bauer interrogated me, and theatened me, over again
But he couldn't pull the trigger... Perhaps he was thinking of his fiends

the ones that had died and he thought there'd been enough killing,
the secret service showed up and Jack was more than willing

to lay down his gun and be under arrest
If only I knew there was a microphone by my chest

My wife acted crazy over David Palmer's murder,
I had to take her in the hanger and I began to hurt her

She tricked me into admitting I had made some mistakes,
But they were for the good of the country, I'm SURE a difference that makes!

The Attny General thought otherwise and I'm off to my fate... But so is JACK BAUER.. but for that ... You'll have to WAIT!!!

Is a link to Iytzin's poem. I would post it but the blog deletes line breaks when you paste stuff so I'll be sat here for twenty minutes copy & pasting. I'll post it later.

New location

I would expect one major question 24 fans are wondering about is whether or not Season 6 will once again be set in Los Angeles. This Q & A from the latest edition of Ask Ausiello suggests that Season 6 may see some new locations.

Question: Any news on the sixth season of 24? — Jordan Ausiello: As a matter of fact, yes — and it's huge! The show may head to the Big Apple next season. The real Big Apple, not some lame New York-looking studio backlot in Los Angeles. "We are in converations about shooting some stuff in New York for this [coming] season," exec producer Joel Surnow tells me. If a deal can be worked out, this would be the first time in the show's five-year history that it went on location outside of California. Surnow also hints that there's a decent chance Gregory Itzin and Jean Smart will be back as the disgraced first family. "We love them," he says. "They're alive. We certainly want to try to bring them both back, because they were just such fabulous characters for us." For exclusive scoop on the in-the-works 24 feature film, pick up the June 26 issue of TV Guide magazine, on sale next Thursday. (It's juicy stuff, kids.)
